The mind...what an interesting creation!
Ever thought what if you had a different mind? a different life? or maybe different parents?! etc...
These questions -if one could wonder- would simply result in one thing, that you...would not be you!
Having a different mind means that you won't be thinking the way you are thinking now, a different life, means different experiences thus a different mindset. Having different parents means different sets of chromosomes... which all leads to a totally different person other than you! That being said it means that you will literally be someone else! and there's a good chance you wouldn't be thinking about these question in the first place!
A mind is an interesting creation indeed, imagine all the things you do, all the things you know, all the things you calculate on daily basis (yes, even if you think you're not good at math) and I'll prove it for you with more than a few examples:
Driving - requires constant distance calculation and 3D visualization, however you drive while thinking about something else, or talking on the phone(!)
Sports - Almost all sports depends on calculating forces, distances and angle(s). Just by watching your target (ex:ball) and reacting with your hands/legs/head you are doing many many calculations in very little time. Using your preceptors as inputs (eyes, ears, feeling/touch) and your muscles as output (kicking a ball, catching a ball, dodging, etc...) your mind has already calculated many variables and generated many expectations & reactions and already given orders to your body to move in accordance! All that happens in fractions of a second, yet we do sports for fun!
Communication - talking with your friends, family, or any fellow human being usually involves the retrieval of old memories, recent events or news, sometimes using one or two languages.
Where is all that information stored??
How can it be retrieved, processed, executed in fractions of a second?!
How can you do several things at one time! (people sometimes drive, eat and talk on the phone in the same time!)
All this packed in this tiny little space we call our heads!
What do you think?
For me, I find that truly amazing...
